Rick Hill swinging down to the Bitterroot again

Sorry for the lack of posts recently. The county beat down here has been very quiet due to the holiday season. While the Ravalli County commissioners were technically working the week between Christmas and New Year, it was only office management and no meetings.

But they are back to the grind this week. On Friday, Jan. 6 the board will be meeting with Republican gubernatorial candidate Rick Hill. It is a regularly scheduled meeting for 9:30 a.m. in the commissioners’ meeting room. (215 S. 4th Street, Hamilton). The candidate will be speaking with the commissioners about “important issues for state and local government.”

Hill will also be speaking at the regular meeting of the North Valley Pachyderms that same day at noon at the Frontier Cafe in Stevensville.

Hill made an appearance in Victor back in June that I covered. He also joined Denny Rehberg, Steve Daines and other Republican gubernatorial candidates at a Lincoln-Regan luncheon in Victor in February.

 

Republican candidates for state offices making appearances in the Bitterroot

The North Valley Pachyderms will be hosting Secretary of State candidate Brad Johnson at its monthly meeting  on Friday, Dec. 2 at noon. The meeting is at the Frontier Cafe in Stevensville on Highway 93.

Also swinging down the Bitterroot are Republican gubernatorial Ken Miller and Neil Livingstone. Miller and Livingstone will be taking part in a question and answer session at a meeting of the Ravalli County Tea Party Patriots. The meeting is on Thursday, Dec. 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Willow Court Apartments at 150 Skeel Ave. in Hamilton. (from Highway 93 turn east on Foxfield by Tire Rama, dead ends at Skeels, turn right, apartments on the left, park across the street.)

Ravalli County commissioner Ron Stoltz also told me that Miller will be speaking at luncheon at the Church of the Nazarene in Victor the following day (Friday, Dec. 9) at noon. I’ve gotten quite used to that venue. I’ve also seen U.S. House candidate Steve Daines and Montana governor candidate Rick Hill speak there in the last year.

Johnson, Miller and Livingstone’s running mate Ryan Zinke were in the Bitterroot most recently at the Ravalli County Republican Central Committee’s election kickoff fundraiser dinner, held on Oct. 29 in Hamilton.

*UPDATE* Thanks to commenter Tom McQuillan who pointed out that both Miller and Livingstone will be in Victor on Friday, Dec. 9. The two candidates are guests of a joint North and South Valley Pachyderm meeting that kicks off at 11:30 a.m. at the Church of the Nazarene.

 

Bitterroot political event of the week

Ravalli County Republicans will be holding an annual fundraiser with some pretty big names in Montana politics showing their support. It’s a spaghetti dinner on Saturday, Oct. 29. The event is dubbed, “Election Kickoff 2012: Take Back Our State!”

Steve Daines, who is running for Denny Rehberg’s seat in Congress, will be the main speaker.

The event will also feature Republican gubernatorial candidates Rick Hill, Ken Miller and Drew Turiano. Secretary of State candidates Scott Aspenlieder and Brad Johnson as well as the Bitterroot’s own Attorney General candidate Jim Shockley will be on hand.

The event will be MCed by Ravalli County Attorney Bill Fulbright.

The dinner takes place at the Eagles Lodge in Hamilton. Tickets are $30 for singles or $50 for couples.
